    I am a past Spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics and Director and Owner of BTD Nutrition Consultants specializing in behavior and lifestyle modification, nutritional psychotherapy, obesity and weight management.
    As a regular guest on national television and radio programs and in the press, I provide practical advice on healthy living to publications such as The New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, and WebMD and shows including CNN, CBS Early Show, ABC’s Good Morning America, FOX 5 News, and The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet. Reporters seek my opinion because of my ability to cut through the often-conflicting medical studies and the ever-shifting trends in the field on nutrition. I’ve worked with The Discovery Channel and Lifetime TV as an on-air consultant for several nationally broadcast shows As a consultant to Cartoon Network, I’m relied upon to keep up with the most current trends in nutrition and I’ve collaborated on designing a program with CN for the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) regarding food labeling for children.  I have been named “Outstanding Nutrition Entrepreneur of the Year” by the American Dietetic Association, and received the New York State Dietetic Association’s Media Excellence Award.

      “Don’t eat bread,” “Never eat dessert,” and “You’re not allowed to drink alcohol.” These are common statements told to people who have diabetes, but are they really true? In most cases, they are not! Control is not only about the foods you need to avoid: management of diabetes has to do with the balance of food in your diet and the timing of your meals. For two and a half years, I wrote a column called “Fitness Prescription” for Newsday, and my articles and quotes have also appeared in Life, Health, Vogue, Shape, Fitness, Reader’s Digest, Weight Watcher’s, Martha Stewart’s Everyday Food, Ladies’ Home Journal, Prevention, Women’s Day, and Men’s Health, just to name a few.
